AS Island schools prepare to welcome vaccination teams for their 12 to 15 year old age groups, data shows it is young people who have the highest rates of Covid.
The voluntary programme is rolling out across secondary schools this week.
Daily data provided by the government shows current levels of Covid among Island children is very high, with ten to 14 year olds most affected.
On September 20, the most recent date available at the time of writing, the rolling rate among this age group was 1,247.9.
The rate across all age groups on the Island, per 100,000 people, was 220.
The second most affected age group is the 15 to 19 year olds, with a rolling rate of 536.
The third most affected age group is five to nine year olds, with a rolling rate of 387.2.
The darker the colour, the higher the rates
People age 65 and over, right up to 90-plus, are now the least affected — having started their vaccinations earlier.
The recent data is in stark contrast to the January Covid peak on the Island, which showed a much wider age range affected, from young to old.
