ILLEGALLY getting together during Covid lockdown earlier this year has left plenty of Islanders out of pocket — many by more than £2,000.
The following list is all Island residents whose cases were heard at Aldershot Magistrates' Court within the last three months for breaching lockdown regulations.
People who gathered together at a home on Mitchell Avenue in Ventnor on January 23 have been heavily fined — to the tune of £1,760 each, with a £176 surcharge and £85 costs.
They were Megan Dickson, 23, and Harry Malcolm Mulholland, 30, who both live at the address, and Hannah Jane Cutler, 38, and Daisy May Jasper-Sandilands, 21, both of Spring Hill, Ventnor. Their cases were heard on July 20.
Dylan Colvin, 20, of Bernard Road, Cowes, was fined £1,760 with a £176 surcharge and £85 costs after he attended a gathering during lockdown.
He went to Arctic Road in Cowes, a public outdoor place, and participated in a gathering of more than two people in a Tier 4 area on February 21.
His case was heard on August 31.
The same sentence was dished out to Jamie Ingram, 19, which means he has to fork out more than £2,000 after going to a gathering at George Street, Ryde, just up the road from his home address, on March 2.
His case was heard on Tuesday.
The case against Benjamin Ratcliffe, 21, whose home the gathering was in, has been adjourned to October 19.
Paul Anthony Bishton, 30, of Fort Street, Sandown, was also fined £1,760 with a £176 surcharge and £85 costs after he attended a gathering during lockdown.
He had gone to a private dwelling in Salisbury Way, Sandown, on January 24. His case was heard on July 27.
Sinead Joanne O'Reilly, 22, of Lake Green Road, Lake, was fined £1,760 with a £176 surcharge and £85 costs after a gathering at her home during lockdown on February 2. Her case was heard on July 27.
Shaina Louise Collyer, 29, of Station Avenue, Sandown, went to a gathering at Winston Avenue, Binstead, on February 18. The move cost her a fine of £1,760 with a £176 surcharge and £85 costs. Her case was heard on July 20.
Annabel Claire Calvert, 39, was found to have hosted a gathering in her own home on Lowtherville Road, Ventnor, on January 28, with two or more people. Her case was heard on Tuesday and she was issued the same sentence — leaving her owing the courts more than £2,000.
Marcus West, 22, of Broadway Crescent, Binstead, was given the same sentence after attending a gathering outdoors at Swanmore Road, Ryde, on February 12. His case was heard on August 3.
Michael James Hollister, 51, was given the same sentence after a gathering at his home on Albert Street, Ventnor, on January 14, with two or more people. His case was heard on August 3.
Charlie Weldon, 21, of Steephill Court Road, Ventnor, was fined the same amount after being found on the Military Road without reasonable excuse on February 21.
Similar happened to Lucy Hutchison, 26, of Meadow Road, East Cowes. She was found in Ryde without reasonable excuse and other than as permitted by the regulations.
Declan Cotton, 24, of St Martin's Road, Wroxall, was fined £1,760 with £90 costs and a £176 surcharge after going to Tesco in Ryde and meeting with two or more people, against coronavirus regulations. His case was heard on September 13.
Stacey Bradley, 31, of Garden Way, Newport, admitted participating in gathering of two or more people in a private dwelling/indoors at Garden Way in a Tier 4 area. She was fined £320, with £40 costs and a £34 surcharge on September 13.
Finlay John Bakewell, 21, of Cranleigh Gardens, Northwood, admitted participating in a gathering of more than two people in a public outdoor place, at Furrlongs in Newport, in a Tier 4 area on February 5. His case was heard on Tuesday. He was fined £40, with £40 costs and a £34 surcharge.
Jordan Michael Gammon, 24, of George Street, Ryde, and George James Swain, 22, of Quay Street, Newport, have had the cases against them reopened following conviction in July for participating in a gathering in a Tier 4 area.
Their convictions and sentences have been set aside and will be heard again on December 14 at Aldershot Magistrates' Court.
Both had been fined £1,760, with £85 costs and a £176 surcharge.
