We invited County Press readers to submit photos of their pets for our inaugural Pet Idol competition — and we had hundreds of entries.
The public were then encouraged to vote and the winner was Evie, owned by Mark Johnson of Ventnor.
Evie is a two-and-a-half year old fox red labrador, who was a generous present, as a puppy, from Mark’s work friends when he retired early.
She has three sisters Ruby, Megan and Saphy, and a brother, Buzz, who all live on the Island.
So Mark and Evie occasionally meet up with some of the others for a walk and a play.
He said: “She’s a really friendly well-behaved girl and is one of the family. Her favourite game at home is being chased around the dining table with a toy, or fetching tennis balls on the downs.
"She has an incredible sense of smell and a nose for finding tennis balls left by other dogs.
"Her hearing is amazing too as she can sense the fridge door opening even when in the deepest sleep!”
