Beryl is offering free access to its e-scooters across the Isle of Wight tomorrow (Wednesday) as part of this year’s Car Free Day.
Riders will be given access to 15 minutes of free travel, with one redemption per rider, in addition to having the £1.50 unlock fee waived.
Car Free Day is a global initiative introduced to reduce the reliance on motorised vehicles.
Beryl hopes that by offering free access and use of its e-scooters, more people will experience the benefits of using its alternative mode of transport.
Since the Island launch in 2020, 213,000km in 57,000 journeys has been recorded on Beryl e-scooters.
The result is a modal shift from cars of over 19 per cent, which the company says demonstrates the positive impact the scheme is having in reducing the number of vehicles on Island roads.
Beryl chief executive, Phil Ellis, said: “Car Free Day is an important moment in the year to continue building awareness around the need for greater sustainable, affordable and convenient travel solutions.
“Whether travelling using one of Beryl’s e-scooters, walking or using any other alternative method, we hope to see as many people as possible enjoying safe, sustainable travel.”
To ride a Beryl e-scooter, you must be over 16-years-old and hold a valid UK provisional or full driving licence.
