Passengers boarding Red Funnel's Cowes to Southampton Red Jet service are facing a wait of 'up to 4 hours.'

Long queues have formed, as people try to get home after the Isle of Wight Festival.

Red Funnel said: "We want to get you back from the Island as efficiently as possible, so please have your e-tickets ready to scan."

Meanwhile, passengers booked on the car ferry route, from East Cowes to Southampton, have been told to arrive in a fifteen minute window before their sailing.

In a Tweet yesterday, the operator said: "For vehicles ensure you arrive no more than 45mins, but at least 30mins before sailing time.

"If you are late you will need to rebook. We will try & get you across as soon as we can, but we have very limited availability."

In some good news, Fairlee Road is now open to in both directions.
