ISLE of Wight Coastguard teams were busy yesterday (Saturday) helping a range of people in distress or difficulty.
Yesterday afternoon, both Ventnor and Bembridge teams were paged to a yacht aground on Ryde sands.
The welfare of the casualties was unknown and the teams were unable to raise the vessel on VHF so the Gosport and Fareham Inshore Rescue Lifeboat assisted.
They confirmed all were safe and were awaiting the next high tide to float off.
A couple of hours later, Ventnor and Needles teams were sent to a casualty extraction of a walker in difficulty at Tennyson Downs.
They located and extracted an injured male who was in close proximity to Tennyson Monument.
They assisted with the stretcher carry down into Freshwater and passed the casualty into the care of the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.
Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team was then immediately retasked to support Bembridge colleagues and Isle of Wight Police with a vulnerable person at Culver.
Later in the evening, the Ventnor team helped out near the Isle of Wight Festival site, along the Western bank of the River Medina at Bishop's Way.
There had been a concern for welfare of a woman in her 20s.
The incident was dealt with but there was "no requirement for police deployment as no offences were deemed to have been committed" according to Hampshire Constabulary.
