EMERGENCY service teams have been called to a road traffic collision in Freshwater this afternoon (Wednesday).

At 4.19pm, fire crews from Freshwater and Newport were called to the scene on The Avenue, near its junction with Amos Hill.

Their assistance was requested by police.

Heavy traffic has been reported in the area.

A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "We were called at 3.47pm today to assist the ambulance service following a collision involving two vehicles.

“We are currently assisting the emergency services and managing traffic at the scene.”
