AN ALL-NIGHT quilting workshop over Zoom has yielded a large some of money for Wessex Cancer Trust.
The midsummer madness event, held on the longest day of the year, was a resounding success for the third year running.
Organised by Gill Hughes, in 2019, a group of quilters convened at Rookley Village Hall for what they thought would be a one-off event, but it proved so successful, two more have been held.
There was an entry fee to join the workshop, and participants secured sponsorship for the harebrained scheme.
Sewing gear and pyjamas were requisite for the all-night sewing session.
In 2020, the group raised around £300 for two Island charities, despite difficulties with sponsorship due to Covid.
July of this year saw them raise £500 for the Wessex Cancer Trust Daisey Buses, which provide transport for Island residents going to the mainland for cancer treatment.
A cheque presentation was held on August 19, and the ladies were thanked for their efforts.
