TOTLAND Parish Council has issued an appeal for information on vandalism — after smashed glass was left littering a children's play area.
Staff at the parish council spoke to a number of residents yesterday morning (Monday) concerning Totland Recreation Ground and a recent spate of vandalism and antisocial behaviour.
The parish council says youths aged between 13 and 15 are causing problems in the area, setting fires in a tunnel, smashing glass where children play, and pouring fizzy drinks down a slide.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "We received a report at 3.34pm on September 8 of issues regarding vandalism and anti-social behaviour at Totland Recreation Ground over the summer holidays.
"It’s reported that youths had been setting fires and leaving broken glass in the children’s play area.
"We encourage people to continue to report any issues relating to anti-social behaviour in this area to police, so the local neighbourhood policing team can build a bigger picture of the full extent of the issues and take any necessary action."
Totland Parish Council is urging anyone with information on the culprits to email clerk@totlandparishcouncil.org.uk.
It says it will do its best to monitor the area.
