A DRIVER has been taken to hospital for treatment following a crash in Blackwater earlier today (Monday).
At around 12.30pm, police, ambulance and fire crews were all called to the scene at the junction of the A3056 and Blackwater Hollow.
Traffic was at a standstill for a time, as emergency crews responded to the incident.
The air ambulance was also called to the scene but has since stood down.
Two vehicles were involved. A Honda Jazz was left on its side, while the other car — a Suzuki — suffered damage to its front.
Recovery of both vehicles is underway.
A spokesperson for Isle of Wight Police said: "We were called at 12.28pm to reports of a two vehicle collision on Blackwater Road.
"The driver of one of the vehicles has been taken to hospital.
"Officers are still at the scene."
The road has been reopened.
