AN ARREST has been made in the wake of a serious crash on the main road between Newport and Cowes last night (Thursday).
Three people were taken to hospital, following a crash between a BMW and a Fiat on Cowes Road. One of the drivers suffered a suspected broken leg.
Multiple emergency service teams were called to the scene, including two ambulance crews, and the road was closed for a time.
A 32-year-old man from East Cowes was arrested at the scene, police have now confirmed.
"We were called out at 8.34pm yesterday evening following a two-vehicle collision at the junction of the A3020 and Horsebridge Hill in Newport," said a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary.
"A blue BMW and a red Fiat were involved in a collision, with the driver of the BMW suffering a suspected broken leg and was taken to hospital as a result.
"A 32-year-old man from East Cowes was arrested at the scene."
