MORE than 70 walkers took part in Hopefully to Seaview 2021 to raise money for and awareness of Retina UK — raising thousands of pounds.

The five-mile walk is an annual event organised by IW group volunteers Colin and Linda McArthur.

They said: "It was a brilliant atmosphere and wonderful that people were able to come together for the first time in a year and a half (socially distanced of course).

"We are very grateful to family and friends and supporters for their enthusiastic response and our wonderful helpers who made the day possible.

"We are also very grateful to Dan and Sam at the Alamo for staging the after-event reception with free food and to local businesses for donating so many great prizes for the raffle.

"Together, we’ve already raised over £4,100 to support research into inherited sight loss and Sandown Rotary Club has kindly pledged to donate a further £1,000.

"We’re delighted to have raised so much during a difficult year.”
