An investigation is underway after reports of an assault and in incident in which a car collided with a give way sign and rolled onto its roof, in Ventnor High Street, on Wednesday evening.
The Toyota Yaris came to a stop yards from the glass windows of the High Street Bar Company.
As previously reported by the County Press, it happened near Spring Hill, at about 7pm, also outside Perks of Ventnor.
A parked vehicle was also caught up in the incident.
A 43-year-old man from Ventnor has been arrested by Hampshire Constabulary, on suspicion of driving whilst unfit through drink, driving a vehicle whilst unfit through drugs, and inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent.
He remains in custody.
The car has since been recovered and the road is now clear.
