ONE of the Isle of Wight’s best-kept culinary secrets can be found behind the doors of a small unit near Newchurch — Wild Island.

Here, among the clouds of steam and hum of bubbling pans, a dedicated team of artisan producers quietly make their award-winning assortment of oils, vinegars and dressings.

Inspired by their Island home and with a focus on handmade quality, Wild Island’s range includes many tempting treats including Raspberry Vinegar, Chilli Cherry Drizzle and a Spiced Fig Balsamic.

At the helm is Nuala Grandcourt, a passionate foodie, who started mixing and infusing more than ten years ago in the kitchen of her seaside cottage in Gurnard.

She has now seen her products on the menus at The Pig Hotels, Kew Gardens and the Royal National Theatre.

Isle of Wight County Press: Wild Island's salad dressing ingredients.

The team prides itself on the principles of quality, authenticity and provenance, using as many local ingredients as possible, including the cold-pressed rapeseed made just a stone’s throw from Wild Island’s front door.

A particular favourite amongst loyal customers are Nuala’s range of finely crafted fruit-infused balsamics, made by infusing whole fruits and vinegar for several weeks to create an indulgent and versatile ingredient to add some magic into your cooking.

Wild Island has won numerous Great Taste Awards.
