A flood alert has been issued for Monktonmead Brook, after what the Environment Agency has described as "intense rain".
Over 30mm fell in two hours recorded at Ryde - about half a month’s total.
The agency is comparing the deluge to the storm on July 27.
It says: "The water level in the Monktonmead Brook is high and rising."
The alert says: "In the next couple of hours, water may begin to flow across the railway tracks, upstream of St John's Station.
"Surface water may already be causing impacts as drains become overloaded.
"Property flooding is not currently expected at this time but we will keep this under review.
"Further thundery showers are possible this morning and over the next 24 hours.
"Water levels will remain very high until at least midday."

It says operational staff will keep Monktonmead Brook clear of blockages and suggests vehicles at depots next to the the river and railway line are moved.
