A HUGELY successful Ventnor Fringe has come to an end for 2021.
Many of the shows were complete sell-outs and despite some weather-related challenges the whole event went smoothly and was supported by thousands of people.

Among the contenders will be the fantastic jaw-dropping Greatest Showpeople circus, who performed in their very own Magpie tent, the smallest fully functional circus big top in the UK.
The nine performers were true daredevils and funny too, with the giant balloon act among the highlights.
Another popular show was California Dreamers, a live band bringing to life the music of the '60s from Laurel Canyon — acts such as the Mamas and the Papas and all who partied with them in their heyday.

Families with young children will have appreciated the chance to attend the festival style Mini Fringers day — providing some much needed entertainment after months of lockdown. Star of the show was CBeebies' Andy Day and his dinosaurs.
Joe Plumb will be another contender for the award, for his alternative offering — a comic look at the possibility of independence for the Isle of Wight.
Or will Billy Nomates scoop the prize? — she certainly created a buzz on social media after her show, as did Gengahr.
A one-hour adaptation of Jane Eyre attracted smaller audiences but was cleverly done, with just four actors taking on a variety of roles, word perfect and conveying the multitude of emotions required. The cast has now moved on to Edinburgh Fringe.
There was oodles of comedy to choose from, in a separate comedy tent plus other venues. Pick of the Fringe night saw a selection of the festival's best comedians, hosted by Ahir Shah.
Glenn Moore, Garrett Millerick and Ray Badran all took turns at the mic and there was not a wisp of tumbleweed able to work its way between the belly laughs. The Covid pandemic has only added to the material dreamt up by these funnymen.
Perhaps the biggest star of the Fringe this year was drag queen Joe Black who performed two fabulous shows in the Magpie tent and compered a variety night.
So much choice!
One thing's for sure, the demand for live acts is there and the entire event was well supported and well organised.
What will the team have in store for 2022?!
