A SECTION of Fawley power station has been demolished this morning as part of plans to build 1,500 homes on the site.
An explosion was visible across the Solent before a huge cloud of smoke enveloped the area.

It comes after the southern section of the boiler house at the station was demolished in November 2020.
The project, put together by a consortium headed by Fawley Waterside, will see huge industrial buildings replaced with hundreds of homes, as well as community and commercial facilities.
The current buildings are expected to be completely demolished by 2022.
Vix Lowthion saw the explosion from the Downs Breezer Southern Vectis bus, and captured the shot below.
