JOUSTING will return to Carisbrooke Castle this summer following a pause last year.
English Heritage’s re-enactors hope to bring history to life during a series of shows next month.
A cast of medieval characters will come together for two 'legendary jousts' on each of six days between August 3-5 and 17-19, and from 10am until 5pm.
Tickets are available now, with advanced booking highly recommended.
In addition to the joust, visitors will be immersed in medieval life within the encampment, with fire shows from the castle jester, falconry displays, and the chance to learn about cookery and crafts from centuries ago.
Young would-be knights can have a go at hobby horse jousting in Carey’s Mansion and test their skills in sword school.
Guests will also be able to enjoy a Summer Explorer Quest around the castle grounds every day of the summer holidays.
Those able to follow the trail and crack all the clues will be able to claim their adventurer's certificate.
Tickets can be booked via the English Heritage website with a range of concessions available.
