RESIDENTS of Alverstone and Langbridge are being urged to take action to protect their properties from flooding.
The Government's flood information service has an alert out for the Eastern Yar area, where the water level remains very high and is rising.
Overnight 17mm of rain was recorded at Wroxall and 27mm at Knighton. The rain fell in two hours.
The warning says today, Tuesday) flooding to land, cycle tracks and access paths will continue along the Yar Valley.
At Alverstone and Langbridge, the river will reach a similar level to yesterday morning and could rise a few centimetres higher, which could flood gardens, surround property, and flood the main road at Alverstone, Golf Links and Morton Common Road.
Today and for the rest of this week, showers, which at times, will be heavy and slow moving, are forecast.
Further rain could impact the river today. At Alverstone, the river will rise until at least 2pm.
At Sandown, it won’t peak until the early hours of Wednesday morning, rising to bank full at the main road bridge.
The warning said: "At Alverstone and Langbridge, please take action to protect property."
The warning for Ryde St John's has now been lifted.
