POLICE have reported another drink-drive arrest for someone using a new Beryl e-scooter — the third time someone has been caught on the Isle of Wight since they were recently introduced.
The culprit was a male. More details to follow on the incident.
A woman was charged in December last year and sentenced for drink-driving an e-scooter in January.
In a post on its Facebook page, Hampshire Constabulary warned: "Do not be tempted to use an e-scooter when you come out of the pub as a quick way of getting home.
"It is illegal to use a privately owned e-scooter in a public place.
"This is not just an Island thing, the Metropolitan Police recently seized hundreds of scooters in a one-week period.
"There are many reasons why they are not legal yet, including safety. Please do not let your children use them as you both may be subject to formal action."
