AN ISLE of Wight primary school is allowing its pupils to arrive late on Monday — so they can enjoy the England football match the night before.

With the national team set to face Italy in an historic Euro 2020 final on Sunday, Godshill Primary School has granted permission for its young fans to have a lie-in.

"If your child is a football fan, and is likely to be staying up after 11pm and supporting England in their final on Sunday, then let them stay in bed a little longer," announced the school.

"It has been agreed that they can get to school on Monday morning by 10am, when the registers will close.

"School will start at normal time, but children arriving up to 10am will not be marked as late.

"If your child might be late, and would want a school dinner on Monday, then the office must know by 9:15am, either via email or phone call.

"Loads of luck to England on Sunday — we are all behind you."

Wroxall Primary School is also allowing its pupils to arrive late on Monday.

"Due to the once in a lifetime opportunity to watch England play in the finals on Sunday, our registers will remain open until 10.30am," announced the school.

"This means if your child needs to come to school a little later following a late night, they will not receive a late mark up until 10.30am.

"Come on England! We are all behind you!"
