After nearly a year, flytipped rubbish has finally been removed from a West Wight beauty spot.
As previously reported by the Isle of Wight County Press, dumped mattresses, garden waste and plastic chairs have been blighting Whale Chine, off Military Road.
In March, some of the rubbish was cleared from an adjacent car park.
However, it has taken almost 12 months to get rid of items thrown into the chine itself, because it is privately owned.
The rubbish, which also included piping and clay plant balls, was photographed by Islander Lisa Davis, who shared her pictures with us and reported the issue to the council.
On seeing Lisa's pictures in the County Press, another Islander told us the rubbish had previously been reported and had already been there for months.
Finally, on Wednesday, a joint response by Chale Parish Council and the newly-elected Chale, Niton and Shorwell councillor, Claire Critchison, meant the waste was finally brought out.
Safety ropes had to be used by those involved, because it had been thrown so deep into the chine.
It was taken away, by contractor Amey.

Green Party member and vice chair of the Isle of Wight Council, Cllr Critchison said it was "a difficult and dangerous job."
She asked Islanders to be responsible when it comes to getting rid of rubbish.
Speaking to the County Press, Cllr Critchison said: "I urge anyone needing to dispose of goods to do it in the responsible way through the waste disposal facilities available, so that people and wildlife are not put at harm from these thoughtless acts.
"Residents and visitors should be able to enjoy our island year round without having to see unnecessary flytipping left by the minority."
