A MIAMI-INSPIRED street food market is bringing some much-needed footfall to Sandown this summer.

Sandown Beach Boulevard launched last Thursday, and has been fully booked every day since.

The 1980s-style venue is situated on Sandown beach, operating out of the OYO Marina — formerly the Marina Bay Hotel.

Owners, Parita and Vipul Patel, have transformed the hotel into something of a summer paradise — a place for Islanders to eat street food and drink cocktails against the backdrop of Sandown seafront.

Its victuals and atmosphere have been the talk of the town, featuring drinks from the Isle Of Wight Cocktail Co, and incorporating some of the Island's best street food vendors.

"It's high in demand, but we have got slots opening, and people can book online on our website, or on our Facebook page," said Parita.

"The location's brilliant, and we've got all these great local chefs involved.

"We've been on the Island 17 years now, as a family-run business.

"Two years ago, we decided to change the way we run things, and partnered up with OYO — an international hotel brand.

"The hotel became a simple room-only offering — no breakfast, no dinner.

"Then we realised we had all this space downstairs, where we used to offer guests dinner and entertainment.

"We thought, we can do something with this space. We've gone with an '80s theme because I think it's just so summery — the Miami theme and the colours and the beach.

"It's going to be a great summer in Sandown."

The venue is open 11am to 10pm, Thursday to Sunday, and also offers takeaways.

Food vendors involved comprise Rollin’ Pizzas, Dumpling Dumpling, The Smoking Naan, IW BBQ Co and The Urban Waffle Co.

"It's something new for the Island, not just Sandown," said Vipul.

"And it's not just for summer. We're looking to do it all year, and change it up."
