Monday must surely have been the Isle of Wight's hottest day of the year (so far?) with temperatures topping 31 celsius, according to the Isle of Wight Met Service.

Havenstreet was hottest with 31.8c, while Binstead came in a close second, recording 31.7c.

In Westridge, near Ryde, the mercury hit 31.6c.

Northwood and Ryde took joint fourth - with a trifling 30.2c.

Across the board, temperatures soared into the high twenties and early thirties.

Today will also be warm and sunny, but slightly cooler, said forecaster Jamie Russell.

Meanwhile, the sunshine could be set to break dramatically.

The Isle of Wight Met Service has a weather warning for thunderstorms from 5pm tomorrow (Wednesday), until 9am on Thursday.

The national Met Office has included the Island in its thunderstorm warning, which was updated this morning (Tuesday) and will run from 6pm tomorrow and into the weekend.
