THE Isle of Wight's EVO Driver Training has increased its environmentally friendly learning options with its first fully electric instructional vehicle.

Bob Hussey has been using a hybrid Toyota for more than a year, something which has proven popular with pupils.

With Evo committing to it's environmental progression, fellow instructor Jeff Dowsett has now changed his vehicle to a fully electric Peugeot e208.

Jeff said: "Learning to drive in an electric vehicle (EV) gives our pupils an exciting taste of the future and allows us as a business moving forward and offer students greater choice.

"Feedback from pupils has been fantastic, with them saying how easy and fun it is to drive and they are very conscious of the impact driving has on the environment."

Last year sales of electric vehicles grew by 66% and by 2030 new cars and vans powered wholly by petrol and diesel will not be sold in the UK.

Second hand sales will continue but how long these vehicles remain on the road is unclear.

Jeff added: "As a driving School after lockdown we are extremely busy, so we would encourage new pupils to book early and join our waiting list.

"I would like to thank Snows in Portsmouth, EV Connections IW, and Indigo Graphics for their help."
