Missing soil from around the football pitch at East Cowes Vics is proving to be a bit of a mystery.
A small amount of left over topsoil - around two wheelbarrows worth - has been sitting behind the goalposts at the Beatrice Road ground.
Due to Covid-19, football games have not been taking place.
If they had been, the soil would have been used on the pitch, club managers told the County Press.
Instead, at some point in recent weeks, some has gone missing - including a bit extra from underneath the grass line.
Whoever did it left their shovel behind.
Posting on Facebook, Daz Dyer said: "Can the person who thinks it's ok to enter East Cowes Vics' ground and take some top soil from the small unused mound behind the goal, please at least ask if it's ok, and shut the gate behind them?
"We are a friendly bunch and are always willing to help others out.
"Oh and you left your shovel behind."
He said it was 'not the crime of the century', but would have appreciated someone asking for permission.
