Conservative Donna Jones has been revealed as the preferred Isle of Wight choice for Police and Crime Commissioner.

However, the process continues and it does not mean that she has won the role.

On the Island, she won 19,400 votes, according to the results of the count, which have just been published.

Just over 40,000 Islanders voted in the PCC election on May 6, which had been delayed by a year due to Covid-19.

Isle of Wight County Press:

Finishing second was Labour candidate Tony Bunday (8,448), while Hampshire Independent Stephen James-Bailey (6,902) was third and Liberal Democrat Richard Murphy (4,176) finished fourth.

Results must be submitted from across Hampshire too.

If one candidate wins 50 per cent of the total votes, they will be named Police and Crime Commissioner for Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.

If not, the process will consider second choice votes, and the two candidates with the least amount go votes will be eliminated.
