THE Floating Bridge is out of service yet again — this time due to a cable issue — to add to the frustration of customers who rely on it to cross the Medina by vehicle.
A replacement launch service has been operating for floating bridge foot passengers since noon today (Saturday), following the need to change the south west prow cable, according to an Isle of Wight Council spokesman.
"The temporary service will continue while repairs are carried out, but it is anticipated the vessel will return to service later today," the spokesman added.
"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
Problems with the vessel's prows have previously been at the centre of the vessel's withdrawal from service.
The boat has racked up a significant period of absence for more than a year.
