VETERAN pop star Sir Tom Jones hopes to win over some of the younger music fans at the Isle of Wight Festival — particularly those of Liam Gallagher.
The Green Green Grass of Home singer said he hoped to convert the Gallagher fans into his own, in a light-hearted interview with Daily Star showbiz reporter Sam Mayers this week.
Both stars are set to play, back-to-back, on the Friday night of the festival in September.
Tom said: "I admire Liam and Oasis — and if I can make some of his fans into Tom Jones fans too, that's fantastic."
The words were picked up by Isle of Wight Festival boss John Giddings, who joked on Twitter: "It is only the start. Let the games commence."
This year's festival is set to take place at Seaclose on September 16 to 19.
