The Isle of Wight's 69th Pier2Pier swim will be back for 2021, on Saturday, August 7.

Organised by the Isle of Wight Marlins swimming club, 2020's had to be cancelled, due to Covid-19 pandemic.

2021 will see 150 swimmers taking part, including 50 from the Isle of Wight.

Starting at midday, at Sandown Pier, competitors will swim 1.8 miles of the Bay, finishing outside Shanklin and Sandown Rowing Club.

Crews of the Sandown and Shanklin and Ryde Inshore Rescue independent lifeboat crews will be on hand.

The Isle of Wight Kayak Club also helps keep participants safe.

Bob Cooper, referee and safety officer said: “After the disappointment of last year’s cancellation, it was pleasing that so many of the entrants were happy to hold over to this year.

"The Marlins members have also been delighted to see that this year’s event is the biggest ever."
