PHASE three of major roadworks in East Cowes is underway — plus work to repair Beatrice Avenue after damage caused by diverting HGVs.
The next phase, a week later than originally scheduled, will see works take place between Adelaide Grove and a point 60m north-west of Connaught Road.
The work is expected to last a month and diversions will be in place, taking motorists around Sylvan Avenue way, or Victoria Grove way.
Phase four will see work take place between Well Road and Adelaide Grove, slated for between May 13 and June 2.
Residents have been informed by letter that additional traffic, particularly HGVs, has caused deterioration to Beatrice Avenue.
Repairs will be undertaken near the junction with Southbank Road.
The work is anticipated to take one day and traffic lights will be in place rather than a road closure.
A spokesperson for Island Roads said: "The deterioration in this section of Beatrice Avenue does highlight both the volume of HGVs using York Avenue and also the need to undertake road strengthening project we are currently delivering."
