Bembridge Coastguard Rescue Team says it was disappointed to find its VHF aerial had been damaged overnight, warning it could have left the emergency volunteers without an effective way to communicate.
The matter has now been reported to Hampshire Constabulary.

The emergency service said, in a social media post, that it feared it had been caused by an attempt to take cabling and a lightning conductor.
In a tweet, the team said: "Disappointing to find damage caused to our VHF Aerial overnight.
"Looks like they were attempting to remove the cables and lightning conductor from the roof.
"Totally unacceptable behaviour and could have left us with limited comms."
