RESTAURANT chain Prezzo is to close its Isle of Wight branch — leaving a further empty premises on Newport High Street.
Prezzo has listed the branches that will close for good as part of a rescue deal, and has included the Island restaurant.
The company said 216 jobs are at risk, with 22 restaurants to permanently shut their doors. There are no plans to reopen once lockdown restrictions are relaxed.
Prezzo was in the town's former Post Office. The Post Office moved to the Co-operative on Pyle Street/South Street, which has also closed this month.
Pizza Express also recently closed in the town.
