FURTHER Covid-related deaths have been confirmed at St Mary's Hospital today (Thursday).

According to new data published by NHS England, there have been two more deaths at the Isle of Wight hospital.

Both deaths were officially recorded on Monday February 1.  

These are cases of people recorded as having died after testing positive for Covid-19.

It brings the total amount of Covid patient deaths at the Isle of Wight hospital to 125 since the start of the pandemic.

Three deaths from January were officially recorded in Wednesday's update, with five announced on Monday.

January saw 61 deaths recorded at St Mary's Hospital - the highest toll in a single month to date. 

It was revealed 24 people in Island care homes died in the week running up to January 22.

The total number of Isle of Wight Covid deaths now stands at 208, with 78 in care homes, four in private homes, and one in a hospice.

There were 20 new confirmed cases of Covid-19 announced yesterday for the Isle of Wight.

The update showed the Island below the UK rolling rate for first time in weeks.
