CARE homes on the Isle of Wight have suffered huge losses of residents to Covid, latest government data has revealed.
It shows 24 people in Island care homes died in the week running up to January 22. It means 30 have died in care homes between January 1 and 22.
The deaths will be registered with Covid-19 on the death certificates.
The figure takes the Island's loss to Covid to 203 people, since the start of the pandemic. Of those, 78 were in care homes.
The deaths come as the Covid vaccines are rolled out across the Island, including at care homes.
