Bembridge Coastguard Rescue was called to St Helens this afternoon (Monday) after reports of a baby dolphin washing ashore.
A spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: "We received a call at 3.02pm regarding a dead baby dolphin on St Helens Beach today.
"A coastguard team from Bembridge collated data and left the scene at 3.53pm."
The team gathered measurements and other information for the Natural History Museum.
