THE number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 recorded on the Isle of Wight has risen by 41 today (Sunday).
Today's update takes the month's cases to 4,539 — with almost ten months of previous testing having yielded 1,679 cases.
According to figures published by Public Health England, the cumulative total for the Isle of Wight now stands at 6,218.
The highest daily increase since records began was on Sunday, January 3 — when 459 new cases were added.
The seven-day case rate per 100,000 for the Island, though five days behind, has dropped once again today from 352 to 323.8.
This is a falling rolling rate, but remains above the national average.
The Island has had 173 deaths — with 114 in St Mary's Hospital.
A sixth Covid vaccine centre is set to open on the Island tomorrow, at the Riverside Centre. It is hoped 500 Islanders per day will be vaccinated there.
