The efforts of the community-spirited Fox family, who run The Yarbridge Inn in Brading, are being recognised in this week’s Pub of the Week.
Becky Fox, her brother, Richard, and their mum, Jane, have been at the pub for about ten years and have spent the past year helping their loyal customers wherever possible.

Among the people who nominated The Yarbridge Inn was Lisa Harvey, who lives in Portishead, North Somerset.
Lisa’s 87-year-old mum, Phyllis, lives on the Island and Lisa wanted to give her mum something special for her birthday on January 12.

Lisa said: “I needed an extra surprise for my mum and as I live so far away, I contacted The Yarbridge Inn in hope they could help.
“They went above and beyond in preparing and delivering an afternoon tea for my mum for her birthday.
“My mum said it was a lovely surprise and the tea was amazing and so fresh.
“On top of this, Becky Fox returned a few hours later to take my mum for her vaccine, as her sister was unable to take her, as she works at the hospital.”
Lisa said the pub produced fantastic home-cooked meals for people across the Island during the first lockdown and now they are supplying home-made treats for birthdays, Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or even just as thank-yous to people.
She continued: “What I love about The Yarbridge Inn is that they are so friendly and approachable for any needs you may have and your requests are met. They always want to put a smile on your face.”
Maggie Carberry is also a fan and loves visiting the pub when it is open.
She said: “It’s my favourite because it’s a small, friendly family-run pub with the most amazing food and a family who have done so much for the community during the Covid crisis and lockdown.”

She said that when pubs were allowed to be open, The Yarbridge Inn “adapted brilliantly to the Covid situation with excellent guidelines in place, which made it feel very safe.”
Due to Covid restrictions, the pub is closed currently, but that hasn't stopped the Fox family.
Becky is normally in charge of making desserts at the pub, so she has harnessed her skills to create a range of cream teas and other lovely treats and is in the process of launching her own business, which she will balance with her commitments in the pub when it reopens
Meanwhile Jane, who is normally in charge of main meals at the pub, is continuing to provide meals for those in need in the community.

Becky said: "A lot of the people who come into the pub are older and so we have realised there are plenty of people out there who could do with some help and don't really have anyone else, so for that reason we have continued with the community meals.
"We love our community and even though the pub is closed, we just like to help out in any way we can."
