Trading Standards has received reports this week about a variety of scams that have been plaguing the Island.

If you get any of these whether email, phone call or text – ignore or delete them. Never click on links in messages or respond to requests in phone calls, these are all scams.

Scams to look out for

  • Emails from Royal Mail stating that due to an incomplete address they are unable to deliver a parcel and asking you to click on a link to complete the information - don't
  • An email from EE to say that your payment couldn’t be taken and asking you to click on a link to verify your details – don't.
  • A text message allegedly from the DVLA to say your payment couldn’t be taken and asking you to click on a link – don't.
  • Calls from Amazon Prime stating that the annual membership of £79.99 is due for renewal – hang up.

Remember, any unsolicited communication is likely to be a scam, so treat it with suspicion and don't share any personal details unless you are certain about who you are communicating with.
