THE Waterfront at Totland has received dozens of nominations for the accolade of Pub of the Week.
Situated right by the sea, it is run by Lorna and Adrian Bolton. Throughout lockdown, they have offered a takeaway menu and have delivered meals too, as many of the local community are elderly and have shielded since the start of this pandemic.

Adrian has been very active with the FYT services, which involves driving the Freshwater, Yarmouth and Totland bus for older and vulnerable people.
He has also worked extra shifts to take people to West Wight Sports and Community Centre in Freshwater for their vaccinations.
Adrian and Lorna do everything they can to keep their customers smiling.
Among the many nominees was Rod Adams, who said: “They have provided a fantastic boost to our well-being during this horrid time. Nothing is too much trouble and they help in so many ways.”
Jo Packard added: “It’s a charming, beautiful location, always friendly, affordable and delicious food, brilliant live music (when possible), a treasure to West Wight and always accommodating —whatever the weather.
Anita Thorne said it was her favourite place because of the good food, good service, good company and wonderful location, and many others commented on the spectacular sunsets.

Annette Scivier said: “ There’s an amazing view — whatever the weather. Adrian and Lorna have welcomed our family even though some have mobility issues etc and they have made a few birthdays very special in tough times.
“The Waterfront provides easy, tasty, good-value takeaways. I have enjoyed some sitting on the sand and a couple in the comfort of our camper-van!”
Charlotte Maclean is also very appreciative of the food and service. She said: “The menu is slightly different to a standard restaurant and each meal is cooked and presented to the highest quality and standards. It’s far from pub grub. There’s a real family feel vibe between all staff. There’s great rapport built between staff and the customers, if it’s your first visit, you’re treated as if you’ve been there before!”

When the pub was able to open, Charlotte was also impressed with the Covid precautions taken.
She said: “This is one of the safest venues I visited during the pandemic. They executed safety to the highest measures with screens, very clear one-way systems, and the staff always supervised this was adhered to — as well as not being afraid to turn away those who didn’t adhere to government guidelines in a professional manner.”
Lester Brett-Hill said the staff do their job with great care and pride and there were numerous comments about how the staff have gone out of their way to make sure customers feel safe at The Waterfront.
