THE number of confirmed Covid-19 cases recorded for the Isle of Wight has increased substantially again today (Saturday).
According to figures published by Public Health England, a further 279 cases have been recorded on the Island.
The new cases take the Island's cumulative total to 3,752 since the start of the pandemic.
There have been 2,073 cases recorded on the Isle of Wight in January alone. The Isle of Wight's infection rate per 100,000 has now surpassed 1,000.
280 positive cases were recorded yesterday (Friday), and 156 the day before.

The highest daily increase was recorded on Sunday, when 459 new cases were added to the Island's total.
The seven-day case rate per 100,000 for the Island, though five days behind, is now 1,147.6 — an increase on yesterday's figure of 941.7.
Earlier today, it was revealed the entire east side of the Isle of Wight was among the worst in the country in term of Covid-19 infection rates.
Another Covid-related hospital death was recorded yesterday, taking the Islands total to 65.
A further 51 in the community means 116 people with Covid-19 have died on the Isle of Wight.
