KEY workers Victoria and Samuel Gulliver were among the determined Island couples who have managed to get married during the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was a case of third time lucky, as they were married on September 5 at Northwood Church, following not one, but two cancelled wedding days.

Victoria, who works for the NHS, said Covid restrictions meant they had to completely change all their plans — twice — which included revising their guest lists, owing to the need to minimise numbers, which meant they couldn’t have all the guests they would of liked.

They also had to change the wedding venue to match the new date.

The couple, who live in East Cowes, have not held their reception yet — again due to Covid — and have had to cancel two proposed honeymoons.

They currently have nothing planned but are still hoping to have a honeymoon and have been dreaming of flying out to somewhere hot in the new year.

Sam proposed on June 21, 2019, in the swimming pool at a private villa while on holiday in Menorca.

They cut a dash at their Covid-beating wedding — Victoria wore a princess ballgown-style wedding dress, while Sam looked smart in a navy blue suit.

And although you can never guarantee the weather in the UK, the sun even shone for them.

Lots of people helped Victoria and Sam make the most of their wedding day.

Victoria continued: “We owe a huge thank you to the exceptional Rev. Stephen Sutcliffe for marrying us, as well as my mum, Pauline, and Nan and Grandad for all their support from beginning to end.

“Thanks to my amazing maid-of-honour and best friend, Leanne, for being at my side throughout, and to Auntie Lorraine who saved the day.

“Not forgetting the man of the moment, my son Jay Mason for walking me down the aisle and giving me away.

“Thanks to the beautiful little flower girls — our daughter Skyla, little sister Mia and my baby niece Amira, and the very handsome usher, Arthur, our little brother.

“Lastly we would like to thank our close friends and family who helped us celebrate our marriage Covid-style.”

Victoria concluded: “Both myself and husband are key workers and have worked tirelessly throughout the whole pandemic.

“At times we felt being married in 2020 would be impossible and we feel so lucky to have got married in the current situation — we had to postpone our wedding twice and completely change our plans, but we didn’t give up.

“Covid couldn’t stop us! Our day was perfect and the best part about the wedding was saying I do!”
