Two confirmed cases of coronavirus at Lanesend Primary in Cowes mean Year Four children and staff must self-isolate.
The school has informed families today (Sunday) - and remains open to all other year groups.
It is working with Public Health England and the Department for Education.
In a statement, it said: "It is very sad that this has happened at this time, as we know many of the children and families will be disappointed not to be in school, this Christmas week.
"We will endeavour to do as much as we can with them virtually and share the Christmas joy.
"The rest of the school remains open and we are here to talk through and support any concerns."
Earlier, 14 more cases were added to the Isle of Wight's Covid-19 overall total since the pandemic began, though the rate has shown signs of falling, according to the most recent figures.
