THE number of new confirmed Covid-19 cases recorded for the Isle of Wight has increased by fourteen today (Sunday).

It takes the cumulative total to 1,019 since the start of the pandemic.

On Friday, the Tier One Isle of Wight had the lowest seven-day Covid-19 rate in the country. However, the data does not include the most recent days.

Cases recorded in November were the highest monthly total this year, with 350 registered, according to government figures.

In December, the rate of new cases has been falling - with 41 cases recorded so far.

The government is due to review tiers across the country next week.

Leader of the Isle of Wight Council, Cllr Dave Stewart has said he would be ‘very surprised’ if the Island was moved out of Tier One.
