She's done it!

Isle of Wight sailor Natasha Lambert BEM has reached the Caribbean island of St Lucia, just over 18 days after leaving Gran Canaria.

After sailing nearly 3,000 nautical miles across the Atlantic, her boat Blown Away has crossed the finish line.

In August, Natasha and her crew sailed from the the Isle of Wight to the Spanish islands, ahead of their epic challenge. Their journey started in earnest on Sunday, November 22.

Living with Quadriplegic Athetoid Cerebral Palsy, Natasha has difficulty using her arms and legs, making sailing a little more challenging.

Instead, she uses a Sip-Puff system, designed and installed to her specially adapted boat by her dad, Gary.

Natasha, her family, and her small crew have been taking part in the 2020 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC).

The crossing has been raising money for Cowes RNLI, the Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust (EMC Trust) and a charity that Natasha is the ambassador for, the Missile School of Sip and Puff Sailing.

Natasha and her family have been spurred on by hundreds of messages from supporters.

Natasha's mum Mandy said: “Thank you to all the kind donations from businesses and individuals who have helped us toward our fundraising goal.”

What is next for the crew?

Natasha and her family plan to stay in the Caribbean for some time, visiting local communities and schools with the aim of teaching them how to use the Sip-Puff technology.
