A mystery monolith that appeared on an Isle of Wight beach yesterday (Sunday) is drawing the crowds this morning (Monday).

The mirrored obelisk, standing about 8 feet tall, can be found on the beach - a few hundred yards past the steps at Compton car park.
It appears to be similar to monoliths reported in the United States and Romania.
However, an exchange on social media platform Instagram, appears to cast doubt on links to the other monoliths.
When the New York Times asked for a comment from themostfamousartist - aka Matty Mo - the 'official' response was: "The monolith is out of my control at this point. Godspeed to all the aliens working hard around the globe to propagate the myth."
The cold and mist has not deterred the Isle of Wight crowds today, but photographers who snapped the monolith yesterday were able to get its full glory - in glorious sunshine.

Meanwhile, Facebook site the Isle of Wight Can Depress has added its own theory as to why the monilith may have appeared....
