Cameron Palin has joined East Cowes Town Council.
The 18-year-old is believed to be the 'youngest parish councillor in the country', according to his colleagues.
He is also a prospective candidate for Isle of Wight Council's Osborne ward, with plans to represent the Isle of Wight Green Party.
Mr Palin was co-opted to East Cowes town council at its Full Council meeting on November 19.
