Isle of Wight pubs have been included in this year's Good Beer Guide.

Published annually, by the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA), the beer-lovers' bible is aimed at discerning drinkers who appreciate a good pint in a proper pub.

This edition marks the 50th anniversary of the campaign, which was founded in 1971.

A group of regularly active members in the branch have been testing the pubs (pre-Covid), and considering comments (and scores) from other members who live on, or visit, the Island.

We know Covid rules mean we can't enjoy a tipple at the moment, but scroll down for the 22 places to make a note of, because they made the grade!

John Nicholson, IW CAMRA chairman, said: "Once the hospitality industry reopens, it needs our support to ensure this special part of British culture not only survives but flourishes.

"We are all looking forward to being able to drink superb real ales in the special atmosphere of a variety of wonderful pubs, rather than a range of canned and bottled beers at home — interesting as many are."

A CAMRA spokesman said: “The pubs deserve their place in the Good Beer Guide 2021.

“It is our belief that if a licensee serves an excellent pint of real ale, then everything else in the pub, including customer service, quality of food and atmosphere, are likely to be of an equally high standard.”
