From Viv Nobbs, Landscape Lane, Newport:

So, who is “Mrs C. Ferns – company name Cotton Trust – address c/o Whitegate Building, Arctic Road, Cowes?

Why does she feel it is adequate or acceptable to use only these details on a formal planning application to build 14 luxury homes with garages on our green fields and to build two new vehicular roadways onto a leafy lane, ripping out a wonderful hedgerow and destroying great natural habitat for an array of wildlife into the bargain?

In this case it’s Landscape Lane, Newport.

Who is the planning officer who has apparently given “assistance and advice” about the application in the pre-application stages?

No name appearing in the box that requires officer name.

Given the application states he/she has 'supported principle of development', I think we deserve better. Please let us have a name.

Who does own the land? The ownership certificates and Agricultural Land Declaration shows no name of owner or tenant — again a blank box — just an address of 15 Harvey Road, Newport.

Overall, the formal planning application appears to be less than transparent sadly.

Apply for outline planning for 14 large houses now, how many more will there be further up and across the road when the next stage of your planning process begins and the advice leaflets arrive on our doormats here in Landscape Lane, Staplers Road and Long Lane?

These 14 houses in this major development will not likely be affordable by our young families.

Why does anyone believe that local folk will put up with this total disregard for them? Let us all see that common sense and fair play prevails.

County Press Readers, please consider objecting to any green-field site development on our beautiful Island, in this case Landscape Lane.

Comments and objections to the plan, reference 20/01529/OUT should be made by Friday, October 30, but, it is well worth knowing that, comments and objections registered up until decision time do have to be considered by the planning office...so it’s not too late.
