From Anthony Stark Toller, Totland:
A FRIEND and his partner visited the Island by car last week for a short break.
They were charged £192 for a return trip Portsmouth to Fishbourne! That is totally outrageous.
He made the mistake of booking and paying for a caravan in Shanklin before he looked at the ferry prices.
The ferry was more than the accommodation.
If the Island is to have a future as a tourism destination then the two car ferry companies need to be regulated.
Between them they have a well controlled monopoly and can thus charge such extortionate prices.
If everyone on the ferry was charged that rate, then Wightlink made £34,000 for the return crossing.
Inexcusable!
